Pichon Lalande 2007 WA89

Bordeaux 2007

Branaire Ducru 2007 - "The 2007 Branaire-Ducru has a light, slightly simple bouquet: red berry fruit, singed leather and cedar, autumnal in style and maybe missing a little vigor simply through the passing of time. The palate is medium-bodied with a pleasant tartness on the entry, gentle grip in the mouth and plenty of tightly wound black, graphite-infused fruit on the finish. Not bad, although it feels as if the aromatics are developing quicker than the palate." - Neil Martin, Wine Advocate: 88pts

Vieux Certan 2007 - "The 2007 Vieux Chateau Certan offers enticing aromas of black fruit, melted tar, mint, rooibos tea and undergrowth—complex and enticing, almost matching L'Eglise-Clinet in terms of sophistication. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit on the entry and white pepper and cloves on the mid-palate, while the Cabernet component lends structure and a sense of symmetry towards the finish, although it does fade in the glass, whereas the L'Eglise-Clinet "motor" on. This is just beginning to drink now but should last for another 8-10 years." - Neil Martin , Wine Advocate: 91pts

Pichon Lalande 2007 - "The 2007 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a little underwhelming on the nose considering its peers, showing some signs of under-ripeness that jars against the black, cedar-tinged fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, tobacco-stained red berry fruit to the fore and with decent weight on the rather leafy finish. It actually finishes better than it begins, although it is difficult to envisage any improvement down the line. " - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate: 94pts
